GLOSSARY / VPN
What is VPN?
A Virtual Private Network encrypts traffic and tunnels it through an intermediary for privacy or remote access.
Corporate VPNs give remote workers secure access to internal resources; consumer VPNs mask IP and encrypt traffic on untrusted networks. Vulnerable VPN appliances are a frequent ransomware entry point.
Zero-trust network access (ZTNA) is increasingly replacing traditional VPNs.
