GLOSSARY / Botnet
What is Botnet?
A network of compromised devices controlled remotely by an attacker to act in unison.
Bots (zombies) receive instructions from a command-and-control server to launch DDoS attacks, send spam, mine cryptocurrency, or spread further. IoT botnets like Mirai harnessed insecure devices at massive scale.
Taking down the C2 infrastructure is key to disrupting a botnet.
